Legal Help with Child Custody and Child Support Cases

What to look for when choosing a family law attorney

The Good News and the Bad News: You need to know the truth about your situation if you want to develop a realistic plan. A good attorney is objective and will tell you what you need to know to protect your interests and keep you out of trouble. Sometimes that means saying "no."

Problem Solving: Some people say they want a lawyer who will "fight" for them. Certainly that is an essential skill, but far more difficult to gain is the knowledge of when to fight and when (and how) to reach a fair out-of-court settlement that protects your interests. That requires creativity, maturity, and sound judgment.

If you suspect a lawyer failed "works well with others" in grade school, ask yourself this: "Do I need more conflict and stress in my life, or less?" and "Will this help my children?"

Experienced Child Custody and Child Support Lawyer Serving Colorado Springs, El Paso County, and Surrounding Areas
and Military Bases

Child custody and visitation decisions are the most emotionally difficult part of any divorce. Every parent fears losing the close relationship they have in day-to-day contact with their child. Some parents also fear that the other parent will inflict abuse on the child or will purposefully alienate their child from them.

Helping my clients negotiate child custody agreements that truly work for their family is one of the most important services I provide at my Colorado Springs family law office. I invite you to contact me to learn more about how I can help you with such issues as:

  • Child custody and visitation agreements
  • Obtaining child support
  • Child support modification and enforcement of child support orders
  • Child custody modification in move-away situations, because a child's needs or desires have changed, or in cases of child abuse, neglect, or parental alienation
  • Establishing paternity of a child
  • Grandparent visitation

In most cases, these fears are unfounded and parents can-and do-find creative solutions to custody and visitation that allow them continue to be a vital part of their child's life.

Out-of-State Clients and Military Families

Colorado Springs is a highly mobile area. Military families and families connected with high tech industries move frequently. As a consequence, I work with many clients who reside out of state, or whose spouses reside out of state—sometimes in other countries. I have experience dealing with the special problems raised in these circumstances.

If you find yourself in this situation, contact my law office. I can represent you in the Colorado courts and can advise you on how to proceed.
